The Presidency has denied reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of state and local government police.
Reports on Monday had claimed Buhari approved the establishment of both state and local government.
It was also reported that the President had approved the dismissal of police officers as recommended by the National Human Rights Commission Presidential Special Panel on SARS Reforms.
Reacting to the report, the President explained in a statement on its Twitter handle that the President received the reports and ordered that a white paper be made within three months.
“The report of the white paper committee will form the basis of the decisions of the government on the many recommendations, including the setting up of state and local government police made by the Ojukwu panel.
“Until a white paper is produced, it will be premature and pre-emptive to suggest that the recommendations contained in the report have been approved by the President in part or whole,” the statement read in part.
